Common Knowledge is a Vancouver-based production company specializing in genre films that explore philosophical themes around identity, society, and reality, often using metaphor to communicate ideas.
Recent film WITH LOVE AND A MAJOR ORGAN had a successful festival run, premiering at SXSW before screening at over 30 festivals including Fantasia, Beijing, Munich, and BIFantheatrically releasing in the US, UK, and Canada. It won Best Feature at Santa Fe FF, Canadian FF, and ReelWorld FF, among other festival awards, and garnered five Leo Award nominations.
Common Knowledge is currently developing the film adaptation of Madame Bovary, currently entitled PROVINCIAL WAYS and the satirical horror HOW DARE YOU by co-directing duo Kit&Arran.

ABOUT MADELEINE DAVIS
Madeleine Davis is a Canadian-British Producer and Writer based in Vancouver, Canada. She has over a decade of experience in both narrative and commercial mediums.
She is known for her work on WITH LOVE AND A MAJOR ORGAN (SXSW ’23), FREAKS (TIFF ’18), and DHULPA (VIFF ’22). Recent credits include Executive Producer on Kunsang Kyirong’s feature debut 100 SUNSET (TIFF ’25), Line Producer on Jane Pollard and Iain Forsyth’s feature BROKEN ENGLISH (Venice ’25), and Producer on Rachel Rose’s short LITTLE BOOMS (Aesthetica ’25). Past work has played at festivals such as South by Southwest, TIFF, Fantasia, and Sitges, receiving press from the New York Times, Variety, the Hollywood Reporter, Noisey, GQ, and Director’s Library, as well as garnering multiple Vimeo Staff Picks and two Prism Prize nominations. These projects have received support from Telefilm Canada, the Harold Greenberg Fund, Canada Council for the Arts, Women in the Director’s Chair, and MuchFACT.
Madeleine holds a Masters in Creative Writing from the University of Cambridge and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of British Columbia.
